Coinbase Card (Visa Debit)
A Visa prepaid debit card that lets you spend any cryptocurrency held in your Coinbase account at millions of Visa merchants worldwide. When you make a purchase, Coinbase instantly sells your chosen crypto at market rate and completes the Visa transaction in GBP.
Rewards: Cashback rewards are not currently available to UK cardholders. This feature is exclusive to US users.
Fees: No annual fee, no staking requirement, and no credit check. A conversion spread applies when spending crypto — check the app for the current rate.
Availability: Available to UK and EEA residents, as well as US residents (excluding Hawaii).
Other features: Both virtual and physical cards available. Note that in the UK, the card cannot be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay — contactless payments are supported via the physical card's tap-to-pay only. Managed entirely through the Coinbase app with real-time transaction alerts and the ability to freeze your card instantly. Spending and ATM withdrawal limits apply — check the app for current limits.
Krak Card (Mastercard Debit — by Kraken)
A Mastercard debit card that lets you spend cash and crypto from your Krak Everyday account balance, anywhere Mastercard is accepted — online, in-store, and at ATMs in over 190 countries.
Rewards: The standard card earns cashback on purchases, while the premium Metal Card earns a higher cashback rate with no limits or caps, plus additional cashback features on selected purchases. Check the Krak app for current rates.
Fees: No transaction fees when spending across supported assets (though a spread applies on conversions), no FX fees on foreign currency purchases, and no ATM withdrawal fees from Krak's side (third-party ATM fees may still apply).
Availability: Currently available only to UK and EEA residents, with more countries coming soon.
Other features: Virtual card issued instantly, physical card available in coral or black. Supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. You can set a custom "Spend Order" to prioritise which assets are used first, and block specific assets from being used for card spending.
Uphold Card (Mastercard Debit — UK version)
The UK version of the Uphold card is a Mastercard issued by Optimus Cards UK Limited, regulated by the FCA. It can be used to spend across fiat currencies and crypto assets directly from your Uphold wallet, accepted online and offline at over 150 million locations in more than 210 countries.
Rewards: UK cardholders earn cashback in GBP on purchases funded from a GBP balance. Note that purchases made with crypto or other non-GBP balances do not earn rewards. Rewards are calculated monthly and credited to your Uphold balance within 15 days, subject to a monthly cap. The Elite/Essential tiered structure with XRP rewards is a US-only offering and is not available in the UK.
Fees: No set-up or annual fees. No foreign transaction fees. Standard trading fees apply when spending crypto. A one-time shipping fee applies for the physical card. ATM withdrawal fees apply — check the app for current amounts.
Availability: Available to all UK residents (excluding Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories).
Other features: Free virtual card available instantly. Physical card available on request. Supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. Spend in multiple fiat currencies or hundreds of crypto assets directly from your Uphold wallet. Uphold publishes its assets and liabilities in real time and does not loan out customer assets.
